Lifestyle brand developed from Mellow Mushroom is actually pretty cool

Turns out a lifestyle brand has developed from the Mellow Mushroom pizza franchise. And it's actually pretty neat.

The creative behind the apparel and accessory label, launched in 2015 and dubbed House of Shroom, is University of Miami alumna Elizabeth Brasch. She and her team of artists design and produce vibrant offerings — everything from crew-neck graphic tees to stemware and luggage tags — that embody the psychedelic motif Mellow Mushroom has had since the 1970s, when the Atlanta-born chain's merchandise brand was then known as Mellow Gear.

The theme and art of House of Shroom reflect the multicultural experiences Brasch encountered during her time in Miami, too.

Three capsules — Rainbow Trip, Good Pizza and Roots — make up the label's spring 2017 collection, and each is meant to represent signature elements of the gourmet pizza purveyor. Rainbow Trip, for example, speaks to 1974, the year Mellow Mushroom was founded, with groovy, hippie-era prints and tees. Roots — featuring bright, cartoon-like art that resembles the chain's original apparel prints — is also dedicated to Mellow Mushroom's beginnings, while Good Pizza pays homage to pie lovers through pizza-embellished items such as long- and short-sleeve shirts.

Locally, there's a Mellow Mushroom in Brandon and another in Clearwater. Fans of the franchise should peep House of Shroom's full line of accessories and apparel online.
